Roadside inspections can be logged in Datatruck either by manually filling out a safety task, or automatically by uploading the work order/inspection report and letting TruckGPT extract the details.
Method 1: Create Manually
Go to Safety > Tasks and click Create Safety Task
Click Create Task
Fill in the Task Details:
MC Number, Driver, Date — required
Type — select Inspection
Truck / Trailer — assign the unit inspected
Location, State, City — where the inspection took place
Document ID, Note — any reference number or relevant notes
Fill in the inspection-specific fields:
Inspection Report — report number
Court Date / Time — if applicable
Data Q — Yes/No
Inspection Level — select the level (e.g., Level 1 – North American Standard Inspection through Level 8)
Select Violation(s) Discovered or No Violation
If there's a cost tied to the inspection (e.g., a fine or repair), add it under Tasks with the amount and quantity
Assign Driver or Vendor compensation as Billable or Reimbursement if applicable, and enter the amount
Upload any supporting documents under Attachments (e.g., inspection report PDF)
Click Create Task
Method 2: Upload Using TruckGPT
Go to Safety > Tasks, click Create Safety Task, then select Upload Using TruckGPT
In the Create New Safety popup, click Upload Work Order File (required)
Drag and drop or click to upload the inspection report/work order file
Click Done
TruckGPT will read the document and automatically populate the safety task fields. Review the extracted details for accuracy before saving.
