Samsara is a fleet telematics that provides real-time visibility into vehicle performance, driver behavior, and fleet productivity. By integrating Samsara with Datatruck, your fleet's data becomes visible and actionable directly within the TMS, helping streamline dispatching, safety, and maintenance operations.
Note: This is a one-way integration. Datatruck can read information from Samsara, but Samsara cannot access or modify Datatruck data.
In order to integrate Samsara with your Datatruck account, please follow these steps below:
Step 1: Generate Your Samsara API Token
Log in to your Samsara Admin Dashboard.
Go to API Tokens.
A checklist of data permissions will appear (such as MPG, location, fuel level, etc.).
Checklist the options you want to share with Datatruck.Click “Add New Token.”
Name the token Datatruck
Click Create Token.
Copy the API token. You’ll need this for the next step.

Step 2: Connect Samsara to Datatruck
Go to your Datatruck account.
Navigate to:
Settings > Integrations > TelematicsLocate Samsara and click “Get Started.”
In the Input Token field, paste the API token you copied from Samsara.
Click “Connect to Samsara.”
You’ve now successfully integrated Samsara with Datatruck!
Step 3: Verify Your Integration
Once connected:
Double-click on the Samsara integration screen to open the details page.
You’ll see:
Total number of trucks
Number of connected trucks
If you notice any discrepancy between the total number of trucks and the number of connected trucks, click on “Sync Trucks” to update the connection.
If some trucks are not syncing properly, it may be due to:
Inactive trucks
VIN numbers mismatch between Samsara and Datatruck
Please verify the truck VIN numbers in both platforms and confirm that the vehicles are active.
A checklist of telematics options that you can checkmark such as:
Location
Fuel level
MPG
Diagnostic codes
Odometer
Running Time
By turning any of this off will result in no information regarding that option.
(The demo screenshot shows 0 connected trucks, but it should reflect the same number as the total trucks)
Your Samsara account is now seamlessly connected to the Datatruck platform. This setup helps you reduce manual tracking, improve operational efficiency, and keep everything in one centralized system.
Samsara Integration Permissions
If the Samsara integration is not working, it’s often due to missing or incorrect permissions. When generating the API token, make sure to specify the necessary READ scopes.
For full data access from Samsara to Datatruck, enabling the global READ scope is recommended.
Additionally, to ensure Driver HOS data works properly, you must enable the Read ELD Compliance Settings (US) permission when generating the token.
How To Integrate HOS Information On Datatruck:
Datatruck can import Hours of Service (HOS) information through the Samsara integration. For the HOS data to sync correctly, the driver’s license number in Datatruck must match the driver’s license number in Samsara. If these values do not match, the system will not be able to link the driver and retrieve their HOS data.
